Faculty Accomplishments

Jonathan Ashby acted as the planning chair for the annual meeting of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) from November 18-21, 2019 in St. Louis. There were approximately 600 attendees, with approximately 250 students who had supported travel to the conference.

Was invited to speak in a panel organized by the London School of Economics and Political Science Human Rights Center on “Defending Academic Autonomy in Turkey,” which took place on April 28, 2021. 

Was recently interviewed by Voices of the Middle East and North Africa on KPFA Radio of Berkeley, CA about government assault on higher education in Turkey. Kate Ballantine was an invited speaker at the University of Connecticut where she presented her work on the long-term development and ecosystem functions of restored wetlands. (November, 2018)
