Prepaid Health Center option

MHC Health Services does not participate in any health insurance network and does not bill any third party insurance. Most clinical services at Health Services are provided for no cost to currently enrolled students. Services with a cost are charged to the student’s account, unless they have opted into the School sponsored health insurance plan (SHIP), or selected the “prepaid option”.

The Prepaid Health Option will cover all charges associated with the following services:

• Laboratory tests collected at Health Services and sent to the reference lab (i.e. blood tests, STI tests)
• In house point of care lab tests (ie rapid strep, rapid covid tests)
• Physical Therapy--Evaluation & Treatment
• Allergy Shots
• Injection fees associated with vaccines or medications administered in primary care.

All students enrolling in SHIP are automatically included in the prepaid option. Those that waive SHIP and retain private insurance from home may opt in to the Prepaid Health Option at an annual cost of $250 ($125 per semester). Students or families seeking this coverage should email Student Financial Services at sfs@mtholyoke.edu to purchase the plan.
