ABOUT PILOBOLUS

Like its namesake, pilobolus crystallinus—a barnyard fungus known for propelling its spores into the world with extraordinary velocity, accuracy and strength—Pilobolus disseminates the seeds of expression via movement all over the globe through creative, connected performances, workshops, and experiences that educate, entertain, and get people moving.

Founded in 1971 by a group of Dartmouth College students, Pilobolus seeks to form unique, diverse collaborations that break down barriers between disciplines and challenge the ways we think about dance. The company’s core interest is using movement for problem solving, team building, education, and conveying media and messages. At its core, Pilobolus explores the edges of movement and its application to problem solving, team building, education, media and message dissemination.

The work Megawatt, a high energy dance by the Internationally recognized Pilobolus Dance Company will be performed by FCDD students for the Faculty Concert in November.

Choreography by Pilobolus:  Jonathan Wolken, in collaboration with Mark Fucik, Andy Herro, Renée Jaworski, Matt Kent, Jennifer Macavinta, Manelic Minniefee and Matthew Thornton. Commissioned by the Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater, Florida, in Celebration of the 20th Anniversary Season.
