Mount Holyoke College is a top national liberal arts college

Mount Holyoke College was ranked highly by both U.S. News & World Report and Washington Monthly.

Mount Holyoke College has once again been ranked as one of the top colleges in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report and Washington Monthly.

In its 2025 Best Colleges ranking, released on Sept. 24, U.S. News & World Report ranked Mount Holyoke College #34 among national liberal arts colleges. The publication also ranked Mount Holyoke as #34 in best value schools among national liberal arts colleges (up from #37 last year) and #54 in top performers of social mobility among national liberal arts colleges (up from #62 last year). The College was also ranked #35 in best undergraduate teaching programs among national liberal arts colleges, a category that debuted in this year’s list.

Washington Monthly has also released its 2024 college rankings, naming Mount Holyoke College #25 for liberal arts colleges. Since 2005, Washington Monthly has “ranked colleges based on what they do for the country,” according to its website. The outlet rates liberal arts colleges on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research and promoting public service.

“Mount Holyoke College continues to be recognized as a place where students learn beyond boundaries and explore their interests across disciplines and through hands-on experiences,” said President Danielle R. Holley. “We are a community dedicated to bold leaders, ambitious learners and all those who want to expand their knowledge, skills and worldview.”

These ratings follow The Princeton Review’s August release of “The Best 390 Colleges,” in which Mount Holyoke was ranked #3 for “Best College Library,” #4 for “Most Politically Active Students” and #7 for “Most Active Student Government,” “Most Beautiful Campus” and “Professors Get High Marks.”
